Center for Health and Education Studies (CHES) conducts evaluations and needs assessments to inform programming, policy, and funding decisions,
particularly concerning public health, substance abuse prevention,
school/community collaborations, student outcomes, and higher education. The
CHES helps public health agencies, non-profit groups, and university
researchers in designing evaluation plans and in collecting, managing,
analyzing, and presenting data. Services include statistical analysis,
interpretation and application of findings, report writing and data
visualization, mapping (GIS), and assistance with grant applications and grant

Center for Information Technology Services (CITS) at WYSAC specializes
in developing Internet and Windows-based software solutions. Using cutting-edge
technologies, the CITS creates quality software products tailored to the needs
of clients in the public and private sectors. The center’s staff has extensive
experience with IT project management, systems analysis and modeling, database
programming, Microsoft .NET-based software development, and graphic design. The
CITS also maintains a reliable and secure IT environment that supports all
WYSAC operations. The IT infrastructure includes centralized storage and data
backup, dedicated servers for files and database applications, optical
recognition software linked to two high-capacity scanners, and a modern call

Through the
Center for Criminal Justice Research (CJR), WYSAC is the state’s statistical analysis center (SAC) established programmatically by the U.S. Bureau of Justice Statistics and created by Executive Order of the Governor of Wyoming. There are 53 SACs in the U.S. and its territories. The purpose of CJR is to provide rigorous independent evaluation and analysis of criminal justice programs. Social science methods are objectivity employed to assist justice system agencies, law enforcement officials, and ultimately policymakers in evaluating programmatic effectiveness and developing practical solutions to costly problems.

Survey Research Center (SRC) is the oldest of WYSAC’s subunits, with more than 30 years of survey experience. The SRC’s survey methodologists provide assistance to government agencies, private businesses, non-profit organizations, and the university community on research design, data collection, data analysis, and interpretation of statistical results. The SRC conducts needs assessments and public opinion polls in a wide range of areas. The SRC operates a fully equipped facility for computer-aided telephone interviewing and optical scanning of mail questionnaires. The SRC also has extensive experience and expertise in conducting focus groups, Internet surveys, and in-person interviews.
